Please help me support Battersea
I’m taking part in Walk for Rescue, Battersea's dog walking challenge. Throughout the month of October, I will be covering 60km with my dogs by my side.
Battersea will always be there for every dog and cat. Battersea takes dogs and cats in, gives them the expert care they need and finds them new homes that are just right for them. They help pet owners make informed choices, provide training advice, and campaign for changes in the law. And they help other rescue centres and charities at home and abroad because they want to be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need Battersea.
Thank you so much for your support.

Walking for Battersea dogs home
Friday 4th OctThere’s something about grabbing the leash, seeing my dogs’ eyes light up, and heading out for our daily walk that just fills me with joy.
It’s a routine we love—whether it’s a brisk morning stroll or a lazy afternoon adventure. But recently, I decided to turn this simple daily activity into something bigger, something that could help the dogs who haven’t yet found their forever home. That’s how I got involved with supporting Battersea Dogs Home, and how my walks now have a whole new purpose.
Let’s face it—dog walks are already pretty awesome. It’s the perfect way to bond with your pup, get some fresh air, and break away from the usual hustle. But when I discovered I could raise money for Battersea Dogs Home just by walking my dogs, it felt like a no-brainer. Now, every step we take isn’t just for us, but for all the dogs waiting at Battersea for someone to love them the way I love mine.
How does it work? It’s simple! There are loads of ways to get involved, but I signed up for a sponsored walk, where friends and family pledge donations for every mile I clock with my pups. It’s a fantastic way to combine something I already do with a cause I really believe in. And believe me, my dogs are more than happy to do the extra laps if it means treats at the end (for them) and funds raised for Battersea (for the dogs in need).
Why I Support Battersea
Battersea Dogs Home is a place close to my heart. They don’t just take in dogs—they care for them, they rehabilitate them, and they work hard to find every dog a loving, forever home. From strays to surrenders, Battersea believes that every dog deserves a second chance, no matter their story. That’s a mission I can fully get behind.
Knowing that our daily walks are making a difference to the dogs still waiting for their shot at a better life gives me—and my furry companions—a whole new sense of purpose. I think about the tails wagging back at Battersea, the hopeful faces peeking out from their kennels, and I know that even the smallest contribution can help change a dog’s life for the better.
Walking For Those Who Can’t…Yet
Not every dog at Battersea is ready for long, joyful walks. Some are still recovering from tough situations or adjusting to a new environment. But thanks to the amazing team at Battersea, they’re getting the care, attention, and training they need. With the funds raised from sponsored walks, Battersea can continue to provide medical treatment, food, and, most importantly, love.
That’s why I’m walking for those dogs—for the ones who can’t yet join me on the trails, but soon will. For the ones waiting to find their perfect family and for the ones who just need a little more time to heal. My walks aren’t just about exercise anymore—they’re about hope.
How You Can Help
You don’t need a dog of your own to get involved and help Battersea. You can sponsor someone like me, or better yet, sign up for your own sponsored walk! Whether you walk, jog, or run, every step counts when it’s for a good cause. Battersea also welcomes direct donations if walking isn’t your thing. Every bit helps and goes toward giving dogs at Battersea a second chance at happiness.
Conclusion
My daily dog walks have always been a highlight of my day, but now, knowing that each step supports Battersea Dogs Home, they feel even more meaningful. Together, my dogs and I are helping to raise awareness and funds for the incredible work Battersea does for dogs in need. If you’ve ever thought about how you can support a charity that’s making a real difference in the lives of animals, why not start with something as simple as a walk? Your steps—just like mine—can lead to a better future for these dogs.
So next time we hit the pavement, it’s not just for the exercise. It’s for the dogs who are still waiting for their second chance. And that makes every walk feel a little bit more special.
