Shirley Chowney-Cooke

By taking part in Walk for Rescue I have raised enough for a care package for:

2 dogs

A care package includes all the essentials a dog needs, including a comfy bed to sleep in and a bowl for their favourite food, creating a welcoming space when they arrive at Battersea.

My target 36 kms

Please help me support Battersea

I’m taking part in Walk for Rescue, Battersea's dog walking challenge. Throughout the month of October, I will be covering either 36km, 66km or 99km with my dog by my side.

Battersea will always be there for every dog and cat. Battersea takes dogs and cats in, gives them the expert care they need and finds them new homes that are just right for them. They help pet owners make informed choices, provide training advice, and campaign for changes in the law. And they help other rescue centres and charities at home and abroad because they want to be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need Battersea.

Thank you so much for your support.

My Updates

Walking update 22 September

Tuesday 23rd Sep
Seasonal changes in the weather again have meant gloves , wellies, sunglasses on instead of my usual fitflops and shorts

The bright sun first thing sits low on the horizon and there is a lot of dew and cobwebs on show in the local woods and canal

I love autumn time and the leaf colours are glorious right now

Thanks for all donations to date

Still a bit more to help me hit my target so please dig deep

Ta muchly xx

The weather has been just about every season in recent days, wind, howling wind, horizontal rain, sunshine, beautiful blue skies and showers with thunder ⛈️

We are loving our local walks 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🐾and seeing the trees changing colours

Happy autumn 🍂

Bowie's Story

Thursday 4th Sep
We rescued Bowie from Battersea Old Windsor on 22 May 2021

He had zero confidence,  was very scared of men and other dogs, didn't know how to walk on a lead, play with toys or trust

This beautiful saluki cross ( suspect his mom or dad was a Doberman) with those amazing eyes/ eyebrows is a changed hound

He loves running at 100 miles an hour with his doggie pals, sleeping 20 hours a day on one of his 3 beds, taking snacks and treats from everyone he meets and fills our days with joy

You too can help change a pets life and move to a forever home

Please donate what you can whilst Bowie and me walk the walk / walk for rescue in October

Thank you xx
